Chinese Style Green Beans
Let’s be honest, how many of us know what to do with green beans? To me, green beans are one of those vegetables that I buy each time I go food shopping. I added them on my curry recipes or on my salads at times. But I never thought making only green beans would be this delicious.Â

Ingredients:
- 1 pound green beans, ends trimmed
- 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon ginger, grated
- 1 tablespoon soy sauce (you can use low-sodium soy sauce if preferred)
- 1 teaspoon rice vinegar (optional)
- 1 teaspoon sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon sesame oil (optional)
- Salt, to taste
- Red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
- Sesame seeds, for garnish (optional)
- Chilli (chopped, optional)
Instructions:
Bring a large pot of water to a boil. Add the green beans and blanch them for about 2-3 minutes until they are bright green and slightly tender. Drain the beans and rinse them with cold water to stop the cooking process. Pat them dry with a paper towel.
Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat. Add the minced garlic, chilli and grated ginger, and stir-fry for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
Add the green beans to the skillet and stir-fry for 3-4 minutes, tossing them constantly to coat them in the garlic and ginger mixture.
In a small bowl, whisk together the soy sauce, rice vinegar, sugar, sesame oil, salt, and red pepper flakes (if using). Pour the sauce over the green beans and continue to stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until the beans are crisp-tender and well-coated with the sauce.
Remove the skillet from the heat and transfer the green beans to a serving dish. Sprinkle with sesame seeds (if using) as a garnish.
Serve the Chinese green beans as a side dish with steamed rice and your choice of protein, such as chicken, beef, or tofu.
