Looking for a fresh take on traditional deviled eggs? This deviled eggs with avocado recipe is a deliciously creamy and nutritious twist that’s perfect for parties, potlucks, or a low-carb snack. By decreasing the amount of mayonnaise by adding avocado, these deviled eggs become a lighter, heart-healthy option packed with healthy fats, protein, and essential nutrients. They’re easy to make, kid-friendly, and irresistibly tasty with a hint of lime and a sprinkle of spice. Discover how to make this simple, flavorful appetizer that’s sure to impress!
Ingredients:
- 6 large eggs
- 1 tablespoon mayonnaise
- 1 tablespoon mustard
- 2 small ripe avocados or one large ripe avocado
- Paprika
- 1-2 tablespoons lime juice
- Chilli powder (optional)
- Herbs of choice (I added parsely and chives)
- Salt and pepper
- Chopped garlic and onion (optional)
Step by Step Instructions:
- Boil the Eggs:
- Place the eggs in a pot and cover with cold water. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat, then lower the heat and simmer for 9-10 minutes.
- Remove eggs and place them in an ice bath for 5 minutes to cool, making them easier to peel.
2. Peeling the eggs:
- Peel the eggs, cut them in half lengthwise, and remove the yolks.

3. Prepare the filling:
- In a bowl, mash the yolks with the avocado until smooth. I use a sieve to avoid lumps of the egg yolk and avocado.
- Then I add a tablespoon of mayonnaise and a tablespoon of mustard. You can decide to not add mayonnaise as we have avocado added already. I decreased the amount of mayonnaise, which otherwise would be about 3 tablespoons in the classic recipe.
- Mix everything together.

4.Season the Mixture:
- Add 1 crushed or chopped garlic and finely shopped red onions, salt and pepper to taste, paprika, chili, herbs and lime juice and mix everything together to get a smooth filling. Garlic and onions are optional.

5. Fill the egg whites:
- Spoon or pipe the avocado-yolk mixture back into the egg whites.

6. Garnish and Serve:
- Sprinkle with paprika, chives, or any other herbs of choice for added flavor and color.

Bon appétit!
