Melon and Ham with Mozerella

Indulge your taste buds in a delightful symphony of flavors with this refreshing Melon and Prosciutto Salad. This exquisite recipe perfectly balances the sweet and juicy essence of ripe melon with the savory, melt-in-your-mouth goodness of thinly sliced ham. The combination of textures and flavors makes it a perfect appetizer or light summer meal that will leave you and your guests craving for more.

Ingredients:

  • 1 ripe cantaloupe or honeydew melon
  • 200g (7oz) thinly sliced ham (prosciutto or any cured ham of your choice)
  • Fresh basil leaves
  • Mozerella or feta cheese
  • Balasmic glaze (I have a readymade one)
  • Olive oil
  • Ground pepper

Instructions:

  1. If you don’t have a ready-made balsamic glaze like me, prepare your own Balsamic Glaze: In a small saucepan, combine the balsamic vinegar, honey, and a pinch of salt. Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer over low heat, stirring occasionally. Allow it to reduce and thicken for about 5-7 minutes until it coats the back of a spoon. Remove from heat and let it cool.
  2. Prepare the melon. I like to cut the lemon into two, remove the seeds and slice them into thin half circle pieces. I also peel them once I cut them into smaller pieces.
  3. I break the ham roughly with my hands and spread over the melon.
  4. Then I also break the mozerella roughly to spread over all over.
  5. Drizzle some olive oil and sprinkle some ground pepper.
  6. Add the balsamic glaze and some basil leaves.
  7. I usually don’t add any salt but it is upto you if you might want to add a pinch of salt.
  8. Serve fresh because you don’t want to leave the ham for a long time with the wet ingredients.
  9. Enjoy with some bread if you like.
