Ingredients:
For the Dough:
- 300 grams all-purpose flour
- Water (as needed)
- A pinch of salt
For the filling:
- 300g ground meat of choice
- 1 small onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1-inch ginger, grated
- 1/2 cup of chopped cilantro
- 1/2 cup cabbage, finely chopped
- 1/4 cup carrots, grated (optional) – Sometimes I even substitute this with chooped leek.
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon sesame oil or any vegetable oil
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 1 tablespoon ground cumin
- 1 tablespoon ground coriander
Step by Step instructions
1. Prepare the Dough:
- In a mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour and salt with water.
- Knead the mixture until you achieve a smooth and elastic dough.
- Cover the dough with a damp cloth and let it rest for about 30 minutes.

2. Prepare the filling :
- In a large bowl, combine vegetables, meat and spices.
- Add little water (about few tablespoons) and mix properly

3. Assembling the momos:
Roll Out the Dough: Divide the dough into small balls and roll each into a thin, round disc (about 3 inches in diameter).
- Place a spoonful of the chicken filling in the center of each dough disc.
- Fold the dough as per your preference.

4. Steaming the momos:
- Arrange the momos in a steamer, leaving some space between each. (Do not forget to brush the bottom with some oil so the momos don’t stick to the steamer)
- I have used a rice cooker to steam my momos because I do not have a steamer like I did back home in Nepal.
- Steam the momos for about 15 minutes.
- If you want to fry the momos, its just as easy as heating some oil and frying them until they turn brown.

5. Serve with your sauce of choice: In Nepal, we have a tomato sauce specially made for momos. But gthey can be served with any sauce.

Feel free to customize the filling ingredients or adjust the seasoning according to your taste preferences. Enjoy your delicious homemade momos!
